We are proposing to run a series of half day workshops focussing on the ‘place’ of workplace communication in English Applied Level 2, literacy demands and opportunities and understanding criterion standards in this context.

The purpose of these workshops is to:

  • differentiate between concepts and content taught in English Applied as well as Career Education in programs such as Work Readiness/Pathways to Work and Personal Pathway Planning
  • collaboratively plan an outline for a unit of work focussing on workplace communication using the Backward Design Planning process
  • collaboratively develop an assessment task in consideration of the literacy demands and opportunities and the key terms used in the criterion standards.

NB: Schools will need to provide relief for these sessions

  • These workshops will be run by myself, Lisa Davies, Curriculum Teacher Leader English (Years 9-12) and Megan Gunn, Principal Education Officer Vocational Learning (Years 9-12)
