In reviewing TASC accredited courses expiring in 2018, the Curriculum Teacher Leader team identified that the suite of eight Pre Level 1 courses would benefit from redevelopment to improve student learning outcomes.
Feedback from a survey of Pre Level 1 teachers conducted late in Term 2 has identified that there are varying levels of satisfaction with the current suite of Pre-Level 1 courses among stakeholders.
Feedback from support school teachers, who will be delivering TASC courses in 2018, also indicates that some course amendments are necessary for these courses to be inclusive of their learning context and cohort of students, particularly in regard to a number of ’academic spikes’ identified in the current courses.
Curriculum Services will be progressing a two-step process to review these courses:
- Short term: reviewing current courses with a view to submitting course amendments to TASC, for teaching in 2018.
- Medium term: extending the period of consultation for the redevelopment of these courses, to allow for more detailed research, consultation and alignment with other jurisdictions, with the intention that these courses will be available for teaching in 2019.
Curriculum Services thanks those teachers who provided feedback through the survey. A consultation and course development plan is being developed to ensure that all stakeholders have the opportunity to inform the development of these courses over the next 12 to 15 months.
