The Years 9 to 12 Curriculum Framework has been approved by the Minister for Education and Training as part of his ministerial responsibilities to establish priorities for the development of the Tasmanian curriculum.
The Years 9 to 12 Curriculum Framework identifies five key priorities for Tasmanian schools in Years 9 to 12. These are:
- Discipline-based Study
- Transdisciplinary Projects
- Professional Studies
- Work-based Learning
- Personal Futures
Work will progress in early 2020 to engage stakeholders in the redevelopment of TASC accredited courses using these five priorities as a framework for development. Further work will examine Years 9 to 12 provision in general and will explore structural considerations such as modularisation, multi-level courses, micro-credentials, articulation, assessment practice and credentialing.
Draft Assessment and Teaching and Learning Frameworks will also be open for stakeholder consultation in early 2020. Together with the Vision for Vocational Learning and VET in Tasmanian Schools to 2030, these frameworks will form the basis for renewal in Years 9 to 12 education in Tasmania.
These documents will be published on the Years 9 to 12 Project web page along with key information regarding consultation, professional learning and detailed background papers.
Teacher and student forums will continue to provide much valued feedback regarding the direction of the Years 9 to 12 Project.
Please inform relevant stakeholders within your school/organisation that the Years 9 to 12 Curriculum Framework has now been approved for implementation.
