In accrediting FDN315118 Food and Nutrition Level 3 for teaching in 2018, it was a requirement that the external assessment specifications directed students to complete two extended answer responses in order for the course to carry the Everyday Adult Standard for Reading and Writing.
- This was not enacted in the development of the external assessment specifications in 2018. Students gained the standard even though they were only required to complete one extended response in the external exam.
- In fairness to students and teachers, this will remain the same for 2019.
- From 2020 onwards, the external assessment specifications must require two extended responses if the course is to continue to carry the Everyday Adult Standard for Reading and Writing.
- Questions designed to produce extended answer responses should be structured to generate responses of approximately 750-1000 words.
